The name "Citlali" originates from the Nahuatl language, meaning "Star", corresponding to the mythological figure Citlalicue, the creator deity in Aztec mythology. Also referred to as Citlalinicue or Ilamatecuhtli, this goddess and her spouse Citlalatonac jointly created the Milky Way and stars. They are also regarded as the creators of the concepts of death and darkness. This couple is theorized to parallel the notion of the first human pair, "Nata and Nena.".

2. The Age of Citlali

Regarding Citlali’s age, theories abound. Many players know she is far over 200 years old, yet her exact age remains a mystery. Some even speculate she exceeds 500 years. However, clues emerge within her character story: Mavhika scoured through the memories of past Pyro Archons and consistently witnessed Citlali’s presence. Yet this does not necessarily mean she is truly over 500 years old, as "past Pyro Archons" here may refer to those succeeding Mavhika after she entered the Sacred Flame 500 years ago.

According to Citlali’s Tribal Chronicles, her age has been counted since the death of her former classmate Huitzilin. Both earned the title of Great Shaman on the same day, meaning Citlali’s age cannot vastly surpass Huitzilin’s. Thus, while she far exceeds 200 years, her age likely does not surpass 500 years.

In Aztec mythology, Itzpapalotl (the "Obsidian Knife Butterfly") is a goddess of war. She belongs to the celestial monsters called Tzitzimitl—officially designated as "Star Demons"—often depicted as skeletal beings adorned with obsidian blades on their wings. These Star Demons descend to earth during solar eclipses to devour humans. As a Star Demon, the "Obsidian Knife Butterfly" commands the Tzitzimimeh (plural form of Tzitzimitl), who descend during the five inauspicious days known as Nemontemi in Nahuatl or Wayeb in the Maya calendar.
