Genshin Impact: Depth analysis of Archon's Servants/Familiars
Is the Azhdaha Morax Servant? We will be analyzing the nature of Archon's servant/familiar in depth today.
Definition of Archon's Servant/Familiar
In Genshin worldview setting, we often see the expression of Archon's serant/familiar.
But in the end what relationship is considered "Servant/Familiar", the purpose of this article is to let you completely understand this concept.
In the game, two words are used when describing "Servant", appearing with equal frequency.
Familiar, for close friend, dear friend.Servant, the people who needs to serving someone.
So it could be judged that the relationship between Archons and Servant/Familiar might be that of a friend, or an upper or lower rank, but these were not the most important.
The most important thing was that the two must share the same three views, and the two were striving for the same goal.
This is the first characteristic of being a "Servant/Familiar".
So as long as the like-minded thing are servant/familiar?
So are the adeptis the servants/familiars of the Geo Archon Morax?
In fact, the game has a very clear plot rendition of the concept of servant/familiar.
In the third act of the prologue, Song of the Dragon and Freedom, after people purify Dvalin, Dvalin regains his senses and catches us who have fallen due to the collapse of the tower.
Venti renews Dvalin's blessing, which is explicitly "The power of the Anemo Archon".
Dvalin: "Is this... the power of the Anemo Archon?"
Therefore, "Servant" is not a conceptual relationship, but an explicit Servant relationship reached by the power of the Archon to bestow attachment.
This is the second and most important characteristic of servants/familiars.
So the question arises, once a Archon's servant/familiar relationship is established does it last forever?
The answer is NO.
The power given by Archons to servant/familiar is not an unbreakable contract, but more like a power blessing, a kind of enchantment, a kind of buff.
Like the concept summarized earlier, the prerequisite for servant/familiar is that the two people share the same views, and once a serant/familiar no longer agrees with the concept of the Archon, then he/she can unilaterally renounce this blessing and thus lose the servant/familiar status.
The example is likewise Dvalin.
Because he was inadvertently tainted by the power of the Abyss when he fought Durin, he woke up and was once again under the spell of the Abyss Order.
So he believing that Venti had betrayed him and Mondstadt had betrayed him, he gave up the power of Servant to prepare to burn himself out.
It was precisely because Dvalin had given up his Servant status earlier that Venti had re-gifted it with the Anemo Archon power enchantment when his abyssal contamination had been purified.
This is the third characteristic of servant/familiar, and both the Archon and serant/familiar can terminate this partnership at any time.
Also, the servant/familiar can can sense the condition of the corresponding Archon.
"To the outsider, the realm of consciousness is a very abstract concept. Luckily, I'm Ei's familiar, so I can sense her rough whereabouts."
By summarizing the clear definition of a Archon's servant/familiar:
- The Archon bestows the power of favor on a partner who shares his or her own aspirations, and it receives this blessing to become the Archon's servant/familiar.
- This kind of contract is not eternal and will be terminated due to the incompatibility of views of both parties
- With this kind of servant/familiar, both parties can sense each other's status.
Inventory of Archon's Servants/Familiars
Which of the characters that have appeared in the game so far are the true servants/familiars?
Since blessings like granting strength to a servant/familiar are really not well understood, Venti also adds the Blessing of Wind to the Traveler during the prologue, is this considered a servant/familiar blessing?
So, only those who are explicitly said to be servant/familiar in the plot can be considered as such.
The following are currently in the game that explicitly state the relationship between the Archon and the servant/familiar:
1. The servant of Anemo Archon Barbatos
The first is the Four Winds servants, as Lisa calls them.
"Dragon of the East, Lion of the South, Wolf of the North, Falcon of the West...They are the Four Winds of Mondstadt, affiliated with Barbatos, the God of Anemo."
The only servants of Anemo Archon that explicitly appear in the game so far are Dvalin, the Dragon of the East, and Boreas, the Wolf of the North.
2. The servant of Geo Archon Morax
a. Relationship between Azhdaha and Morax
In the episode, it's not explained who exactly the Geo Archon's dependents servants/familiars are.
The Azhdaha's own strength wasn't too different from Zhongli, and he himself was the top cncient Earth Geo Elemental Dragon.
This is not a detailed introduction to the story of Zhongli and Azhdaha. Interested readers can refer to this article: Azhdaha and Zhongli.
So the two are more like partners than servant/familiar, at least the game doesn't make that clear.
b. Relationship between the Adeptus and Morax
Zhongli is said to be the ancestor of the adeptus, and Madame Ping also said that ability of the mighty and illuminated possessed by the adeptus were also bestowed by Rex Lapis.
Therefore, Morax should be more of a teacher or close friend of the Adeptus, and in the game, it's not made clear that the Adeptus are Morax's servants/familiars.
The Familiar of Electro Archon
The Yae Miko was clearly Raiden Shogun's familiar, and there was no need to question that.
However, the former friends of Raiden Shogun have no clear identity and are all treated as nothing more than close friends.
The servant of Dendro Archon Nahida
It was established from Rana that Aranara was a servant/familiar of the Greater Lord Rukkhadevata.
After Nahida modified the Irminsul, Aranara naturally became Nahida's servant/familiar.
During the event, Nahida also dined with Aranara in a dream.
No one can resist the charm of Aranara, let alone the fluffy Aranara plush!
Servant/Familiar of Orobashi
The first of Orobashi's servants/familiars was the Watatsumi Omikami, which was usually half-human, half-snake, and later grew to resemble normal people.
"Vassals of Watatsumi typically take on a half-human, half-snake form, symbolizing that they are the familiars of our serpent god. At least, they used to. Over time, the vassals gradually became identical to humans — all except for the pupils of their eyes."
The three powers of Watatsumi Omikami were divided, and the pendant that could determine the survival of the Enkanomiya was given to the natives of the Dainichi Mikoshi, the Sangonomiya line, and the Vassals of Watatsumi.
It is hoped that the three can monitor each other and work together to maintain the Byakuyakoku.
But as Watatsumi Omikami's power waned after he finished creating Watatsumi Island, no Vassals of Watatsumi was ever born again.
The last Vassals was stolen and raised as a baby by a vishap, who believed herself to be a vishap person and nearly destroyed the Dainichi Mikoshi during the Three Realms Gateway Offering.
The second of Orobashi's servants/familiars is the Sangacorallia, which is an important creatures for human survival.
The Orobashi gave them the status of servants so they could survive in Enkanomiya.
The Orobashi gave them the status of servants so they could survive in Enkanomiya.
Servants/Familiars of King Deshret AI-Ahmar
The game does not specify who all of the King Deshret's Servants/Familiars are, and the following is all speculation:
In the King Deshret's kingdom, there were once seven wise monks who served as important pillars of the nation.
They may be portrayed as: wolve, griffin, ibise, crocodile, cow, sheep, snake.
They are currently only represented in the game on sculptures and Sacred Seal.
Therefore, it is possible that all of the seven pillars of this animal-headed body are dependents of the King Deshret.
The adventurer Baharak in Caravan Ribat is also looking for the King Deshret's Servants/Familiars.
Servants/Familiars of Goddess of Flowers Sabzeruz
After the Seelie that the Goddess of Flowers was a member of was deposed by Celestia, the Goddess of Flowers wandered alone in the Sumeru Desert and accidentally created the Jinni. The Jinni is not only the Goddess of Flowers's creation, but likewise her servants/familiars, and after the loss of the Goddess of Flowers, the Jinni once again pledged its allegiance to the King Deshret, and permanently guarded the Goddess of Flowers's mausoleum, the Orchard of Pairidaeza.
The above is all the information related to the Archon's Servants/Familiars that have appeared in Genshin Impact so far. We believe that as the story improves, the concept of Servants/Familiars will also be added gradually. Behind the worldview of Genshin Impact, there must be a deeper level of plot waiting for travelers to discover!
