1. Saurian Indwelling Mode

In Natlan, You can interact with Saurians to enter "Saurian Indwelling mode". To exit this mode, just hold the Eject button.

There's a unique form of energy in Natlan called "Phlogiston". You'll find it in the environment in various forms, including a magma-like liquid and a crystal-like solid.

Saurian companions consume "Phlogiston" to perform certain movements. When it's used up, you can replenish it from touching "Phlogiston" or by collecting "Phlogiston"-rich items, then, they'll be full of energy again.

Each type of Saurian has its own set of abilities which can help you navigate the environment more easily.

1.1 Tepetlisaur

First, let's talk about the Tepetlisaurs. They're experts at navigating mountainous terrain. Tap the Burrow button to dive underground and move in all directions. If you jump in this state, the Tepetlisaur will per form a brief and fast leap forward.

With the Tepetlisaur's attack, you can use its sharp claws to swiftly remove obstacles in your path.

1.2 Koholasaurs

The Koholasaurs are your best friends when you need to travel on water.

They are fast swimmers who can leap high into the air to avoid obstacles. Hold the Sprint button to dash forward.Koholasaurs can also travel at high speeds along Spiritways.

And they are the only Saurians who can swim in liquid Phlogiston.

1.3 Yumkasaurus

If you are traveling through a dense forest or exploring rugged terrain, your best bet is to find a Yumkasaurus.

Yumkasaurus are always jumping, tap the Shoot button to release Flamegranate Pectin from their cheek pouches. The pectin will attach to heavy objects and sigils and the Yumkasauru can then pull itself towards it.

Hold the Shoot button to control the aim. With the sufficient Phlogiston, Yumkasaurus can pause in mid-air and make a second leap.

Yumkasaurus can also pull some items into their mouths, aim and spit them out, and see what happens!

2. Qucuasurs and Iktomisaurs

2.1 Qucuasurs

Qucuasurs live among the Flower-Feather Clan, which is suspended high above the mountains. Qucuasurs are the proudest out of all the Saurians. They know that they are the king of the sky!

Qucuasurs can consume phlogiston to climb higher or perform a horizontal roll in mid-air. Holding the Sprint button allows them to enter an accelerated glide state after a horizontal roll. In addition, they can even use Phlogiston Wind Tunnels to quickly cover great distances.

Qucuasurs are really hard to tame, you need to prove yourself in some worthwhile feat, like demonstrating exceptional archery skill during flight. That is the only way to become a true Qucuasur rider.

2.2 Iktomisaurs

If you head west from the Stadium of the Sacred Flame and go past the towering walls, you will eventually arrive at the settlement of the mysterious Masters of the Night-Wind. The tribal settlement offers a unique glowing landscape at night.

If you venture even further, then you might encounter the tribe's wise Iktomisaur Elder.

Iktomisaurs are known for their wisdom, they can use their unique sight to detect things that can't be seen through normal means.

Iktomisaurs are especially skilled at detecting Ley Lines and Phlogiston, they can absorb power from Phlogiston objects to enhance their abilities. Doing so allows them to jump higher, move faster, or even obtain surprising rewards.

Iktomisaurs can also extract information from graffiti art to create special objects.
