Genshin Impact Belyi Tsar — The Birth and Backstory of Monomakh
Travelers who have completed the Snezhnaya world quests must all be curious about the Belyi Tsar. Today, let's talk about his story.
Who is the Belyi Tsar?

The Belyi Tsar, Monomakh Snezhnyi, is a fairy bearing the title of "Heir to the Pale Star" and the previous Cryo Archon. It is a failed "Primordial Human" created by Hyperborea using the flesh and blood of the primordial Ice Dragon Sovereign.
Birth of the Belyi Tsar
The Hyperboreans used light to give it a soul and the Ice Dragon's flesh to make its body, crafting a "Primordial Human" to imitate Nibelung. The experiment spiralled out of control. The Ice Dragon Sovereign's authority turned all of Snezhnaya into a frozen land of primordial ice, and even the Ley Lines within its range were affected, turning into condensed, purified crystal ores, until the Heavenly Principles dropped the Celestial Nail. Hyperborea was destroyed and sank into the Shadow Realm. The Belyi Tsar fell into a deep sleep and only truly awakened after more than a thousand years.

The thing similar to a creation engine that we encountered in Snezhnaya is Monomakh's true form. The little boy with blonde hair and blue eyes is his human appearance form.
Belyi Tsar Becomes the First Cryo Archon
Thousands of years later, the Belyi Tsar awakened from the remains of the Ice Dragon Sovereign and established the city-state of Jijie in the northern lands. At that time, humans were servants of the fairies. Afterward, the Belyi Tsar unified the northern lands, and humans gained the status of subjects.

When the primordial light is exhausted, the Abyss will engulf Teyvat. However, the Shadow Realm passage opened by the Belyi Tsar allowed the Abyss to directly invade Teyvat. To make amends for his mistake, the Belyi Tsar accepted the remains of the Third Descender and the order of Celestia, becoming the first Cryo Archon.
Belyi Tsar's Grand Ambition
Through countless explorations in the Shadow Realm, the Belyi Tsar finally learned the secrets buried in the deepest parts of Hyperborea and also found the answer about himself that he had sought for thousands of years. Afterward, he wandered through the ruins in the shadows, pondering whether he should bear the responsibilities and burdens that no one had asked him to carry. One time, while passing through a damaged cluster of buildings, he discovered a silver-haired infant inside an old life-support device from a bygone era. He named the child Aksinya and took her away to raise.
In his long exploration, the Belyi Tsar clarified his responsibility and expectations—to use himself as a guide, opening the door to an ideal world for all living beings. To bring this world into existence, he established the Mìsuǒ Institute, with Aksinya serving as its core executor.

The Belyi Tsar's future plan consists of two steps. The first step is to create a "Chuhara person" to serve as a key, completing the Belyi Tsar's own primordial human form. Researchers used a forbidden material called terrestrial primordium, combined with the Belyi Tsar's flesh and blood, supplemented by means such as alchemy, to attempt to create an imitation of the Belyi Tsar. They produced many flawed products with incomplete minds and finally obtained an exceptionally successful individual whose appearance was completely identical to the Belyi Tsar in his childhood. This is the Chuhara person. According to the plan, once the Belyi Tsar's soul entered this perfected body, the primordial human could successfully come into being.
The second step is to use the completed primordial human as a key to open the Carefree Courtyard. The Carefree Courtyard is a realm where there is no longer any difference between people, all pain ceases to exist, and it is forever filled with supreme joy and love. The method of implementation is to bring the entire world into the Shadow Realm, creating a constant, unchanging space, and stripping away everything that would wear down or affect love.

Just as the plan was about to be completed, the destruction of Khaenri'ah came. The Cryo Archon, the Belyi Tsar, was summoned by the Heavenly Principles. He led the warriors of Novokitezhgrad to Khaenri'ah to join the battle, leaving Aksinya to continue fulfilling his vision. The Belyi Tsar fell while fighting against the Abyss and the tide of beasts. His body was transported back to the Pale Crown Palace for burial. Part of his body transformed into the Tsar's White Birch—those were the nerves growing outward from the shell of his remaining consciousness, endlessly yearning. After that, the Tsaritsa, who held the authority of Snezhnaya, resided in Snezhnaya, and the Pale Crown Palace was left untouched by anyone.
