Genshin Mitya: Experiment and Inspiration, Science and Genesis
With Genshin's Version 7.2 now live, a rather unusual character from the Royal Energy Commission of Snezhnaya has arrived alongside it — Mitya. There is a quality about him that sets him apart: he is not just a companion who fights shoulder to shoulder with the Traveler, but a witty, humorous scientist, and that shows everywhere in his design. Let's take a look at the details.

1. Idle Animation: Experiment Gone Wrong
Mitya really is the genius scientist he is made out to be. String his various skills and his idle animation together, and you get not just one complete experiment, but a running tribute to all sorts of scientific knowledge along the way.
First, the idle animation. Mitya opens up the reactor core to check its stability while jotting down experimental data and flashes of inspiration. But the still-unstable "Elemental Starlight" suddenly begins rapidly devouring the elemental particles around it — and if not for the Scarf stepping in, the situation would have gotten away from him. The Scarf, being kind, tries to warn the oblivious great scientist; Mitya, none the wiser, assumes the device simply switched itself off and turns the shielding back on. He still loves to think, and thinking still gets him into trouble just as reliably as ever. Only when the Scarf shuts the core down for good and pats the device as if to say "keep it safe" does he stop. Interrupted, Mitya's face first flashes with irritation, then he puts the device away with a faint, slightly bewildered sigh — research really is hard work.

2. Reactor Casing: Chemistry and Genesis
Trigger his Elemental Skill and you can get a good look at the casing: it is as if two hands emerging from the Scarf are shielding the variable at its center. Notably, one of those hands bears a skeletal formula — the shorthand of chemistry — while the other carries a pattern matching the gold filigree on Mitya's clothes. If the former stands for the science embodied by Mitya's real-world inspiration, Mendeleev, then the latter is very likely the "non-science" of Genesis, the kind associated with the golden city. Working together, the two build a stable, ideal experimental environment.

Hold his Elemental Skill and Mitya and the Scarf together set the two forces — science and Genesis — circulating through the Elemental Starlight until they reach balance. When the experiment succeeds, he and the Scarf high-five and bump fists. Of course, if that instability is allowed to run its full course, it goes off like an explosion — and that is where the inspiration and the bombardment of his Elemental Burst come from.'

3. Miller–Urey: Proof of Life
The Scarf, a creation of the golden city, is patterned with basic small molecules; Mitya's coat carries something resembling an amino acid, an organic compound. Chemistry, lightning, Genesis, plus his C2, "The Matter That Slumbers Beyond Inertness" — the combination is an unmistakable nod to the classic Miller–Urey experiment.

Inert gases, acted on by lightning, synthesized organic compounds — proof that life arose from the primordial environment of the early Earth. Perhaps there is also an admiring note buried in it: that the Heavenly Principles classifies the creation of life as taboo, yet humanity surpasses that prohibition with its own ingenuity.
