Why Is Zhongli Attractive?
Zhongli is a playable Geo character from Liyue Region. He was first introduced as a consultant of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, but was later revealed to be the Geo Archon, Morax, who has decided to experience the world from the perspective of a mortal. The character was available from Wish Events from Version 1.1, and his birthday is celebrated on December 31st. As one of the most useful characters in Genshin Impact, and the unique function to protect the teammates and reduce Elemental and Physical RES of enemies at the same time, Zhongli is a flexible character and suitable in different teams, such as Zhongli Vaporize (Zhongli, Hu Tao, Yelan, Xingqiu) and Zhongli Catalyze (Zhongli, Tighnari/Dendro Traveler, Yae Miko/Fischl, Nahida) Team. Thanks to his popularity and usefulness among the players, there has been much merch related to Zhongli.
In order to figure out why Zhongli is attractive, we have to look through his experience:
In Liyue's Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, there is such a guest consultant: People don't know his origins, he appears young yet is highly knowledgeable. From the Rite of Parting, jewels, and porcelain to tea, spices, flowers, birds, fish, and insects, he can explain them all to you in detail. He actually has many titles: Warrior God Morax, the Geo Archcon, the Rex Lapis, God of Contract... But now, he prefers to be called Zhongli.
Liyue, as the economic center of Teyvat, owes its prosperity to our Morax. As the earliest known Archon on Teyvat, he was born over six thousand years ago. When Morax was still young, a celestial star fell from the sky, creating the Chasm and bringing with it endless deposits of jade, thus beginning Liyue's thousand-year mining industry. Perhaps because of this, Morax, the Geo Archon, became the deity the people believed in. At that time, Morax led his people around Mt. Tianheng area, controlling the tides and streams, with the people engaged in mining. North of Mt. Tianheng, there was also a maiden known as the God of Dust, Guizhong, who led her people in farming. The first encounter of Morax and Guizhong was on a field of blooming Glaze Lilies. She lamented the frailty and insignificance of humans, fearing she could not protect them well. She gave Morax a stone lock, saying, "This is the token of our alliance, and also my challenge to you. All my wisdom is hidden in this lock" Since then, Morax and Guizhong led their people north of Mt. Tianheng, renaming the place as Guili Plains. During this period, Morax, Guizhong, and other adepti who believed in Morax protected this land until the outbreak of the Archon War.
Around three thousand seven hundred years ago, the gods around Liyue rose up, and an era of chaos was about to begin. In this critical moment, Morax gathered the adepti to sign a contract, establishing the city of Liyue at Guili Plains. The adepti jointly protected Liyue, marking Liyue's first contract. Then the Archon War officially broke out: the God of the seas, Baqiu; the Overlord of the Vortex, Osial; Chi in Qingce Village; the God of the Dream, who controlled minds; and giant beasts in Jueyun Karst... Compared to Mondstadt, the Archon War in Liyue was much more difficult. Before going into battle, Morax said, "This is an age of gods and monsters, I wish not for dominion, yet I cannnot watch the common folk suffer. To cleanse the land and defend our safe harbor."
In the battle with Baqiu, Morax created a stone whale to fight it, resulting in a draw. Baqiu raised huge waves, collasing houses and ships like mountains falling. Morax created a stone bird to soar into the sky and then lummet into the ocean, pinning the sea beast into the dark abyss, Facing the God of Vortex, Osial, Morax sealed it with the Vortex Vanquisher at Guyun Stone Forest. Against the God of the Dream, Morax used a jade bow to destroy it with a single arrow...
However, war is always cruel. The God of Salt, Havria, unwilling to fight, compassionate and unable to bear the suffering of war, took in refugees but was ultimately killed by her own people. The God of the Stove, to protect the people, injected his power into the earth to repair the Ley Lines, losing his godly power in the process. The God of Dust, Guizhong, died in a great battle, and the Guili PPlains they built together were almost completely destroyed. The stone lock, their token of alliance, remains unsolved to this day, and the Glaze Lilies that once covered the mountains are now gone. To this day, Morax still carries that stone lock, lamenting, "where are those who share the memory?"
After Guizhong's death, Morax led people away from the destroyed Guili Plains, over the Mt. Tianheng, and rebuilt their home at what is now Liyue Harbor. During this period, the adeptus, the Skybrazer, sacrificed himself to support the collapsing Mt. Tianheng. After hundreds of years of conflict, Morax finally brought peace to all directions: south of Tianheng, east to Yaoguang, west to Jueyun, and north to Qingce. The Archon War in Liyue finally ended, and he ascended to the position of the Seven, taking on the responsibility of guiding humanity. On the remains of the defeated gods, a new Liyue was built.
Post-war Liyue remained unstable for a long time, with the remains of gods bringing resentment and filth, causing many plagues and monsters. Morax began a new round of work, leading the Yakshas to cleanse evil spirits and pacify disasters. In the long years of fighting evil, even the strong Yakshas were gradually troubled by karmic debt. Of the five strongest Yakshas, three died unnatural deaths, one went missing, and only Xiao, the Conquerer of Demons, remains alive and fulfilling his duty.
If Morax's contribution to Liyue was only pacifying the land, he would at most be the Warrior God, and Liyue's development would not be as prosperous as it is today. After the war, Morax was much better at guiding humanity than his two collegues, Barbatos and Beelzebul. He established the Qixing to manage the daily affairs of the nation; the adepti did not interfere much in administration but had the power of supervision and enforcement; Morax himself formulated the national strategy once a year. This perfect national system made Liyue different from Mondstadt's laissez-faire management and Inazuma's highly centralized regime. Ensuring that the general direction remained correct, while improving the capability of human governance, was equivalent to guiding humanity towards self-reliance. This kind of guidance ultimately enabled the people of Liyue to solve the second Jade Chamber crisis on their own.
In diplomacy, Morax's performance was also outstanding. The Fatui used threats agains Mondstadt; subversion against Inazuma; but cooperation with Liyue, where they did not hold a dominant position. Compared to the current states of Mondstadt and Inazuma, Liyue, under Morax's leadership, truly fulfilled the responsibility of guiding humanity. Unlike the Anemo Archon, he does not wish for his people to be free and happy without being able to discern right from wrong or protect themselves. Unlike the Electro Archon, he has lost dear friends like Guizhong, the God of Stove, and even sealed Azhdaha with his own hands, which undoubtedly caused him great pain. For someone with such a good memory, it was even more devastating. But he has always known the responsibility he bears and has never forgotten it, as Raiden Shogun once evaluated him: "the water change course, but the mountain move not."
According to the story, he has signed a contract with the Cyro Archon to bring an end to everything. From the character introduction, it is clear that the price he paid for this deal was enormous, even losing the power to protect Liyue Harbor. But for the God of Contracts, who has made counteless agreements over thousands of years, such an important contract must be profitable to consider. In fact, combining the above information, it's not hard to see that this contract and the Cyro Archon's goal are most likely to ultimately overthrow Celestia and the rule of the Seven Archons, achieving true independence and freedom of humanity.
Why is Zhongli the most attractive character? He is the Warrior God Morax, is the diligent Geo Archon, is the knowledgeable consultant of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, and is Zhongli, who never haggles over prices and is often broke — he is the most respected Rex Lapis in the hearts of Liyue's people.
As usual, we collected some of the questions that you may be curious about Zhongli.
How old is Zhongli?
As Rex Lapis is stated to be the oldest among the original Seven Archons in Teyvat, only possibly being out-aged by the gods in Celestia, Zhongli is around 6,000 years old.

Is Zhongli Rex Lapis?
Zhongli, Rex Lapis, and Morax are all names associated with this man, but Morax is the one most known to the people of Liyue. In fact, Liyue named Teyvat's currency mora after their preferred name for Zhongli.
How much HP should Zhongli have?
There are generally two different ways for Zhongli's artifact. The first is to use Zhongli to deal DMG, in which case we don't have to care too much about his HP; while the second is to treat Zhongli as a shield provider. There is an interesting way to measure how much shield you need: it equals to the maximal ATK of a Level 100 Lawachurl, which is 29,547. The Level 10 Elemental Skill of Zhongli can provide a shield absorption of 2,711 + 23.04% Max HP; and his first Ascension Passive will provide maximal 25% Shield Strength, plus the effect of the artifact set, Tenacity of the Millelith, which will provide 30% Shield Strength. What's more, a Geo shield can absorb 150% DMG of all attributes. Therefore, if you use Zhongli as a shield provider only, the most suitable HP should be no less than 43391.
Is Zhongli worth pulling?
Zhongli is always a good character to pull, because he provide more shield than any other characters in Genshin Impact, almost endless. Just don't fall into the trap of becoming too reliant on his shield.
Why did Zhongli fake his death?
Because he wanted to test how the people of Liyue would react to him disappearing. He believed that his work was done, and passed over his Gnosis to the Fatui.
Who is Zhongli's dead wife?
The question probably means Guizhong, the God of Dust, who was killed during the war 3,700 years ago. However, it is not mentioned in the game whether she and Zhongli married, or whether there is love between them.
Recently, the prototype images for the new GSC Nendoroid characters Zhongli and Raiden Shogun have been released, and pre-orders will soon begin on Genshin Impact merchandise store. Travelers, let's look forward to it together!
