Genshin Impact Linnea: Snezhnaya Pink Fae
Genshin Impact's official channels recently released the official character artwork for the new character, Linnea. I'm sure all Travelers have seen it by now. Wonder what everyone's thoughts on her are? Of course, before we discuss her, we should get to know her first. Today, let me walk you through what kind of character Linnea is!
Name: Linnea
Race: Fae – Specific subspecies unknown

However, the fae themselves comprise numerous races, with six common types found on the Snezhnayan tundra. Thanks to the eclectic genetic engineering of the Golden City Hyperborea in the past, they modified other races as well as themselves. According to A Brief History of the Pale Starborn, among the known larger categories are the Volkodlak, water imps, and the Vila. Within the Volkodlak clans, there are many further classifications, including bovine-like forms, lupine-like forms, and various retainer clans.
Gender: Female
Age: Unknown

Linnea (the pink-haired fae, second from the left behind Aino)
Vodyanitsa, the Prima Soprano of the Korolevskiy Troupe, finds Linnea much more interesting than those stuffy old-timers. In the "Clink Clank Clash" event, we can also see her childhood appearance. Whether by fae or human standards, Ms. Linnea is likely not very old.

Currently Known Information:
1. Related to changelings
The term "changelings" originates from Celtic mythology in Europe. It was believed that the fae would exchange their own malformed or aged offspring with healthy human infants, using this supernatural phenomenon to explain conditions like premature aging or deformities in babies.
It can be simply understood as the descendants abandoned by the fae among humans. Judging from the official explanation of her artwork, Linnea clearly fits this description. She is a fae who has lived among humans since childhood, a child unwilling or unable to make a choice.

Within the game, there are also several texts mentioning changelings. One is the Battle Pass weapon "Ballad of the Fjords." The story's protagonist is the young hero Ajax, who discovered the land of gold and white stone. Ajax once fell in love with a snow maiden but lost his lover due to the mischief of a changeling—a tragic tale.

In the World Quest "Polkka Beneath the Moon's Oracle," the Frostmoon Scions' child Kasha once heard stories from a child from the outside world: a fisherman who loved a spirit, a great thief who died three times yet escaped the mistress of the underworld three times, and a changeling who longed to become human. The story of the great thief Red Miller is already well-known to us, so we won't elaborate here. However, the fisherman who loved a spirit and the changeling who longed to become human do partially correspond to Ajax's story in "Ballad of the Fjords. " A changeling wanted to become human—could this be the origin of the mischief?
2. Ms. Linnea, the knowledgeable biology advisor for the Adventurers' Guild, is curious about the fate of the human species

Beyond humans, she is also deeply curious about all other living beings.
3. Linnea pursues infinite choices, unwilling to be bound by fate
Children born into this world often begin by seeing themselves at its very center. The realization of the rift between themselves and the world often marks the end of childhood. But what if that child is an inhuman creature living in human society? For her, the path to adulthood must be far more bitter.
Sure, this is Nod-Krai, a paradise for the eccentric and monstrous. The children of the Conch Gang only cast out adults who've come of age, and the clients of the Adventurers' Guild couldn't care less who takes on their commissions. But true hardship is born of the self. Even the children of Nasha Town will grow up eventually. One day, they will succumb to the world's definition of who they are, tracing paths that were carved long before they arrived through an illusory forest of endless possibilities. Henceforth, the vast expanse of "what could have been" withers into "what is."
But for Linnea, such a choice is out of reach. And no one by her side can offer an answer to the one question that matters most.
Fortunately, this world is vast. There are seven nations on the continent of Teyvat and six common types of fae on the tundra of Snezhnaya. Even the light itself may scatter into seven hues. But what lies beyond? Atop the peaks where clouds take wing and beneath the reaches of the crashing waves, countless lives dwell in ecosystems and domains unknown to humankind—strange, beautiful, and uncatalogued. They belong to no compendium and fit into no established category. And that which defies classification holds within it the breath of infinite possibility.
And so, Linnea sets out on her adventure. As long as she keeps moving, perhaps she could traverse every possible path before fate has the chance to catch up. This is Linnea's unique way of connecting with the world.
4. Linnea seems to have quaint resistance to machinery
Every time she sees Ineffa, she chooses to turn and run away.

The same goes for the machinery gifted by Aino. However, I believe that as her time adventuring increases, she may one day come to realize that the origins of the fae and machinery are fundamentally no different.

Currently, there is still relatively limited information about Linnea; we will provide further updates once the character is officially released in the game! Remember to keep following our articles and the site's merchandise updates. See you next time!
