Genshin Lohen Build Guide | Materials, Weapons, and Team Recommendations
The Genshin Impact Lohen wish banner is opening soon! Today, let me bring you a guide on how to build this character. Let's take a look at how to use and develop this character!
Lohen Character Ascension & Talent Material List
For Lohen's Ascension, you'll need a total of 46 Prismatic Severed Tails. This material is obtained by farming Radiant Moongeckos, and you can collect the full amount in about four days normally. To level up the character, you'll need 168 Etherwing Moths. There are fixed, dense gathering spots on the map, so you can collect them while exploring.

To upgrade Lohen's talents, you'll need the Resistance series talent books. The domain for these is open on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Travelers short on materials can farm it on those days. If you plan to level all three talents to the maximum, besides the regular talent books, you'll also need corresponding weekly boss drop materials. There's no need to stockpile too much in advance; you'll have plenty of time to farm them after obtaining the character.
Lohen Character Role
Lohen is a new 5-star Cryo Polearm character, serving as Genshin Impact's first dedicated on-field sub-DPS. This means that while he is active on the field, the core damage output in the team actually comes from off-field characters.

Lohen is also a Hexerei character. When there are two Hexerei characters in the party, the damage of Normal and Charged Attacks is increased. Therefore, it's necessary to have two Hexerei characters in the team to activate this damage-boosting talent.
Lohen Core Mechanics

When Lohen uses his Elemental Skill, he enters a special state. In this state, his Normal Attacks, Charged Attacks, and Plunging Attacks gain Cryo infusion. Each attack also accumulates energy, which is used to activate his Special Elemental Skill.

Every 4 Normal Attacks or 2 Charged Attacks will precisely activate the Special Elemental Skill, dealing multiple instances of Cryo DMG to enemies.
During this state, Lohen evaluates his teammates' capabilities:
① In combat, Lohen briefly increases his own Elemental Skill level by +1. If a teammate's corresponding Talent level is ≥ Lohen's current Elemental Skill level, the duration of this effect is extended.

② When teammates deal damage, Lohen accumulates "Competitive Spirit." The more damage the teammates deal, the faster it accumulates. When using his Special Elemental Skill or Elemental Burst, the higher Lohen's "Competitive Spirit," the greater the damage he deals.
③ After completing the Witch's Tutorial, if the team includes at least 2 Hexerei characters, accumulating "Competitive Spirit" to a certain point will also increase Lohen's Normal Attack and Charged Attack DMG.

④ As for his Elemental Burst, it functions somewhat like an enhanced version of his Special Elemental Skill, dealing multiple instances of Cryo slashing damage to enemies in a larger area, and it shares the same "Competitive Spirit" damage-boosting mechanic.
Genshin Lohen Weapon Recommendations
Lohen is a Cryo on-field Polearm DPS, and weapon choice directly determines his damage ceiling. I'll explain the options in order of priority.

For 5-star weapons, the first choice is his signature polearm, Disaster and Remorse. Its secondary stat provides a high amount of CRIT Rate. After activating its buff by using an Elemental Skill, the damage of his Normal Attacks, Elemental Skill, and Elemental Burst is significantly increased, perfectly synergizing with his Hexerei: Secret Rite mechanic. Prioritize pulling for his signature weapon if you're aiming for a complete build.

For players without his signature weapon, alternative 5-star options include Primordial Jade Winged-Spear, Staff of Homa, and Staff of the Scarlet Sands. Primordial Jade Winged-Spear steadily increases ATK by stacking its effect, offering excellent versatility. Staff of Homa, when paired with Hydro supports to lower HP, maximizes its passive effect, making it suitable for Melt teams. Staff of the Scarlet Sands boosts Elemental Mastery, specifically enhancing Melt reaction damage.

For normal players don't need to insist on 5-star weapons. Prioritize 4-star weapons like Deathmatch, Missive Windspear, and Ballad of the Fjords. These weapons come with CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG substats and are perfectly sufficient for daily Spiral Abyss and world exploration. White Tassel can be used as a temporary option.
Lohen Artifact Recommendations

For Lohen, the primary recommendation is the 4-piece set of A Day Carved From Rising Winds. The 2-piece set increases ATK by 18%, and the 4-piece set further boosts ATK. After completing the Witch's Homework quest, this artifact set also provides an additional 20% CRIT Rate, significantly lowering the difficulty of building the character.

If you prefer a "Freeze" playstyle, you can also switch to the 4-piece Blizzard Strayer or 4-piece Marechaussee Hunter sets, which also offer good output stability.
For main stats, the fixed choices are: ATK% Sands, Cryo DMG Bonus Goblet, and CRIT Rate/CRIT DMG Circlet. The priority for sub-stats is: CRIT Rate/CRIT DMG > ATK% > Elemental Mastery > Energy Recharge. For Lohen built for the Melt system, it's advisable to stack some Elemental Mastery to increase Melt damage. For a pure Freeze playstyle, there's no need to deliberately stack Elemental Mastery.
Lohen Team Build Recommendations
1. Cryo-Pyro Dual-DPS (Melt) Team: Lohen + Durin/Mavuika/Xiangling + Nicole + Xilonen/Zhongli/Sucrose/Prune

Among them, Xiangling has a snapshotting mechanic, so the team can include Bennett. Durin and Mavuika do not snapshot. If you want them to receive the ATK buff from off-field, Nicole is strictly required. The 4th slot should prioritize Xilonen or Zhongli, as they can provide consistent resistance reduction. Anemo supports like Sucrose and Prune have a significant problem: Lohen cannot apply Cryo first, so it's hard to Swirl it. In practice, it mostly Swirls Pyro, primarily to assist the off-field Pyro DPS in triggering Melt reactions.
2. Traditional Cryo DPS (Freeze) Team: Lohen + Escoffier + Furina + Mona

Since currently the only Hexerei characters are Lohen (Cryo) and Mona (Hydro), the team composition is relatively fixed. This setup is only recommended for players who already have high-constellation Escoffier and Furina.
That concludes all the information about Lohen. Wishing everyone double 5-stars in a 10-pull! Remember to keep following our latest articles and in-store merchandise. See you next time!
