Natlan Exploration, which riding gadget do you like most?

by Genshin Fans 21 Jul 2025

Natlan, as the Nation of Pyro in Teyvat of Genshin Impact, attracts countless players' attention with its unique "Land of Saurians" setting and innovative movement mechanics.

Just as the Fontaine version introduced an underwater exploration system, Natlan brings travelers an unprecedented "Soul-Attach Saurian Forms" traversal experience. At the same time, several Natlan characters are equipped with uniquely styled riding gadgets. Today, let's explore them together.

Genshin Saurians

1. Six Natlan Saurians

Natlan is called the "Land of Saurians" due to its unique culture of human-Saurian coexistence. Unlike other nations in Teyvat, Genshin Saurians are not just legendary beings or powerful bosses in the background lore-they are companions closely tied to daily human life. Here, Travelers can use the special "Spirit-Attach" mechanics to bond with Saurians of different elements, gaining a brand-new exploration experience.

Natlan currently features six interactable Saurian forms, respectively corresponding to six elemental attributes. Each Saurian boasts distinct visual designs and traversal abilities.

Saurians Element Tribe Terrain Adaptability
Yumkasaurus Dendro Scions of the Canopy All Terrain (including precipices)
Tepetlisaurus Geo Children of Echoes Rock Walls/Mines
Koholasaurus Hydro People of the Springs Water Areas/Magma
Qucusaurus Pyro Flower-Feather Clan Gliding
Tatankasaurus Electro Collective of Plenty Plains/Charge Paths
Iktomisaurus Cryo Masters of the Night-Wind Break obstacles with Elemental Sight

1.1 Tepetlisaurus

Tepetlisaurus

  • Skilled at Climbing: Whether it's towering ancient trees, steep precipices, or climbing points unreachable by regular characters, the Tepetlisaurus handles them all with ease, demonstrating outstanding climbing abilities.
  • Instant Leap: It can instantly leap from underground or walls to distant surfaces after burrowing, with smooth movements and impressive leap distance.
  • Magma Rift Traversal: In areas filled with magma rifts, the Tepetlisaurus uses solid Pyrosene to swiftly cross rifts while potentially discovering hidden treasures.

1.2 Yumkasaurus

Yumkasaurus

  • Superb Maneuverability: The Yumkasaurus combines leap height, dual-tongue grapples, backflips, cliff speed climbing, and varied attack modes into one, achieving outstanding mobility.
  • Aerial Movement: By holding the Elemental Skill button and aiming a direction, the Yumkasaurus can soar into the air and consume Pyrosene to release a second tongue grapple mid-air, enabling agile movement.
  • Combat & Exploration: In combat, the Yumkasaurus spews explosive flames to devastate enemies. Additionally, interacting with Leaf Glyph Seals on the map allows instant teleportation, enhancing exploration enjoyment.

1.3 Koholasaurus

Koholasaurus

  • Ruler of Waters: In water areas, the Koholasaurus possesses unique abilities such as rapid dashing, long-distance movement, and hydro-launching, showcasing astonishing speed and agility.
  • Limitations: Once leaving water areas, the Koholasaurus becomes slow and clumsy, with its advantages greatly diminished on land.
  • Top Choice for Aquatic Exploration: Despite its poor mobility on land, the Koholasaurus remains the ideal choice for exploring water areas and crossing vast water surfaces.

1.4 Qucusaurus

Qucusaurus

Wings spread out bat-like, with Phlogiston vaporizing during flight to create updrafts. After possessing the Qucusaurus, you can use its flying ability to reach areas that are hard for regular characters to access, such as utilizing Pyrosene updrafts or gliding to cross terrain obstacles.

1.5 Tatankasaurus

Tatankasaurus

The Tatankasaurus can push heavy objects and destroy obstacles, playing a key role in puzzle-solving. This creature possesses a hard crown bone and powerful charging abilities, enabling it to use Phlogiston for rapid dashes. By entering a heightened state, it achieves a second-stage dash, allowing it to leap across terrain differences and even briefly sprint across water surfaces or liquid Phlogiston.

1.6 Iktomisaurus

Iktomisaurus

After possessing the Iktomisaurus, you can activate its Elemental Sight to discover hidden Barrel Bombs, Treasure Chests, Warp Portals, and other special objects, as well as reveal blocked paths to unlock new areas.

2. Distinctive Riding Tools of Natlan Characters

Beyond the majestic feats of dragon-riding adventures, Natlan characters also possess unique riding tools, each with special features that add endless fun and surprises to their journeys.

2.1 Mualani: Sharky

Mualani Sharky

  • Mualani summons two unique companions-Sharky and Puffer-which not only aid in combat but also significantly enhance exploration efficiency.
  • On Land: Mualani Sharky provides a 6-second dash, faster than the Balladeer, with similar sprinting distance.
  • Water Movement: On water surfaces, Sharky Surfboard consumption decreases by 35%. In Natlan, this reduction increases to 75%, extending sprint duration beyond 30 seconds.
  • Obstacle Crossing: While on the surfboard, Mualani can jump over obstacles like small gaps or rocks, improving exploration fluidity.
  • Nightsoul Synergy: During the Nightsoul-enhanced state, hitting enemies with Sharky's bite generates Puffer. Collecting Puffer restores 20 Nightsoul value, and up to 2 Puffers can be created per Nightsoul state. This mechanism extends the duration of the Nightsoul state, reducing interruptions from depleted Nightsoul value during exploration.

2.2 Kachina: Go, Go Turbo Twirly!

Kachina: Go, Go Turbo Twirly!

Kachina, this young warrior from Nanatzcayan, bearing the ancient name "Uthabiti," demonstrates extraordinary abilities in exploring the lands of Natlan. Her summoned "Turbo Twirly" stands as a top-tier tool for traversal in Natlan, excelling in rapid movement, terrain climbing, and stamina management.

By holding her Elemental Skill, Kachina summons and mounts the Turbo Twirly, enabling her to control this device for swift movement. Its performance is especially outstanding in Natlan, significantly surpassing regular running speed and adeptly navigating complex terrains like mountains and canyons, drastically reducing travel time.

When climbing high altitudes or intricate landscapes, mounting the Turbo Twirly reduces stamina consumption by 90%, greatly enhancing climbing efficiency.

Additionally, as a Geo Construct, the Turbo Twirly can resonate with constructs from Tenacity of the Millelith and Zhongli, generating area-of-effect damage and optimizing terrain exploration. Thus, Kachina is truly Natlan's traversal expert.

2.3 Kinich:Almighty Dragonlord K'uhul Ajaw

In official lore, the Almighty Dragonlord K'uhul Ajaw is not merely a summoned entity, but Kinich's "complementary symbiont sharing life and death." Though they often quarrel and criticize each other, in critical moments, both prioritize the other above all.

Kinich's practical traversal tool in-game is the grappling hook. In Natlan, Kinich uses the Elemental Skill "Canopy Hunter: Riding High" to deploy the hook for climbing or rapid movement, significantly outperforming regular climbing. During freefall, Kinich can reposition using the hook to avoid fall damage, while normal attacks prevent landing impact. This mechanism excels in complex terrain or high-altitude jumps. Additionally, Kinich can interact with Natlan's Yumkasaurus Leaf Sigils using the hook to further reduce traversal time.

Kinich Ajaw

The Kinich and Ajaw duo enables unique maneuvers: Kinich's Elemental Skill grants a double-jump effect in Natlan, requiring hold-aiming. After the first leap, Kinich can perform a second aim while suspended mid-air by tugging Ajaw's tail-a charming interaction. Fans hope for official Ajaw merchandise!

2.4 Ifa: Cacucu

Unlike the dynamic between Kinich and Ajaw, Ifa and Cacucu share a harmonious bond as friends who grow together. In contrast to Ajaw, Cacucu is lively and adorable, often mimicking Ifa's catchphrases. Their daily interactions brim with humor and warmth, charming many Travelers who wish for a Cacucu plush to accompany their adventures.

Ifa Cacucu

During exploration, Ifa casts the Elemental Skill "Airborne Disease Prevention" to summon Cacucu and enter the Nightsoul-enhanced state. Suspended in mid-air, Ifa grips Cacucu's tiny backpack to effortlessly traverse mountains, canyons, rivers, and other complex terrain-eliminating the need for climbing or swimming, significantly boosting mobility.

2.5 Citlali: Citlalin Pillow

Citlali Citlalin Pillow

Citlali has two summons: one is the Citlalin Pillow, which represents her personal power manifested in physical form, so many people also call it Citlali Pillow. The other is Itzpapa. In-game, both summons only serve combat purposes, but official animations show Citlali lazily flying while leaning on the pillow, revealing its true function.

2.6 Ororon: Spirit Orb

Ororon: Spirit Orb

In Natlan, Ororon's Spirit Orb allows a mid-air jump by holding the jump key, similar to the Iktomisaurus mechanic. If the current character is already airborne, switching to Ororon triggers another mid-air jump. Holding the attack key then pauses mid-air movement, aiding in crossing terrain, collecting Oculi, or climbing.

2.7 Xilonen: Roller Skates

Xilonen: Roller Skates

Xilonen is a popular character in Natlan, excelling in both combat and exploration. When the Nightsoul state activates, she can move rapidly across ground and walls-even steep cliffs feel like flat ground to her. She glides gracefully on surfaces and pauses effortlessly on walls. Some players ranked characters by vertical climbing speed and found Xilonen is currently the fastest. She handles complex terrain with ease, even performing tricks on thin branches or streetlamps!

2.8 Mavuika: Flamestrider

Mavuika, the only human to ascend as the Pyro Archon, rides the Flamestrider crafted by Xilonen. This vehicle adapts to all terrains-land, sea, and sky.

Mavuika: Flamestrider

  • Land Mobility: Maintains riding state for ~9 seconds, with consecutive sprints lasting ~2.5 seconds (based on 120 Nightsoul value). It dismounts if Nightsoul depletes. Outside combat, when Nightsoul value ≤5, her 6th Constellation refills 80 points (15s CD), enabling near-infinite endurance.
  • Terrain Traversal: With Nightsoul available, it grants extra climbing (1s), water traversal (3s), or flight (3s). At C6, all durations double, and obstacle-clearing/height-gaining efficiency significantly improves, equipping it with true triphibian capabilities.

2.9 Chasca: Soulsniper Ritual Staff

Chasca: Soulsniper Ritual Staff

Chasca's traversal tool resembles piloting a tank or riding a cannon. Activating her Elemental Skill enters the Nightsoul-enhanced state, granting speed surpassing standard sprints and rivaling Yelan's hold-E dash. She can hover, dash, or consume extra Nightsoul to "ascend vertically"-ideal for scaling cliffs or crossing rivers. Nightsoul depletion ends the state; one Skill use provides 80 Nightsoul, sustaining 8-10 seconds, while recasting the Skill seamlessly extends duration.

These are all the riding tools in Natlan. Which one do you want the most?
