Genshin Impact Luna II Story: Crimson Moon and Sinner's Recollection

by Genshin Fans 17 Oct 2025

Genshin Impact Luna II

The upcoming Luna II is a major story update that promises to be visibly spectacular and significant. Building on the excellent performance of the Luna I story, with more key characters stepping onto the stage and a clear gathering of multiple forces to initiate a full-scale war, Luna II can easily be imagined to deliver an incredibly exciting super ensemble drama. Expectations are already at their peak. Today, let's briefly sort out some of the information points involved in the PV.

1. Genshin Impact Iridescent Moon and Arlecchino

The PV directly mentions the "Iridescent Moon" at the beginning-the smallest yet most mysterious among the three moons. The Iridescent Moon's glow is dim and difficult to see with the eye, but the occasional appearance of halos indicates it possesses some special power. During the great war, the three moons were destroyed by the returned creator Nibelung: the Eternal Moon shattered completely, the Frost Moon ceased turning, and only the lunar remains of the Iridescent Moon vanished without a trace.

Iridescent Moon and Columbina

Based on previously known information and hints given in the "Luna I" storyline, we can already determine that the remains of the Iridescent Moon fell to the earth and sank into the underground, becoming the object of worship for the Crimson Moon Dynasty of the former Khaenri'ah-the so-called "Crimson Moon." This corresponds to the phrase: "When the Iridescent Moon shattered, its crimson shadow sank into the abyssal sea."

Arlecchino (Peruere), the Fourth of the Fatui Harbingers known as "The Knave," who is the sole survivor of the Crimson Moon royal bloodline, is confirmed to appear in the Luna II storyline. She will participate in the battle as a key combatant in the team assembled to defeat the Rächer of Solnari.

Arlecchino Genshin

Arlecchino's bloodline flows with the power of "Balemoon Bloodfire," an ancient force originating from the Crimson Moon. In the PV, facing the armies of The Wild Hunt, Arlecchino revealed her liberated form and with a gesture, incinerated a swarm of the Wild Hunt. It must be said, this ultra-cool design captivated countless fans, and because of this, Arlecchino merch consistently continue the same stylish and exquisite aesthetic.

Genshin Arlecchino

The Knave's arrival to assist everyone carries a special purpose, which is clearly closely related to the secrets and history hidden within her bloodline. After all, the reason Rächer earned the title "Hunter of the Moon" in Khaenri'ah likely signifies that he was engaged in the specific task of hunting and eliminating remnants of the previous dynasty for the Eclipse royal family-the blood descendants of the Crimson Moon. Thus, the confrontation between The Knave and the Hunter of the Moon corresponds to the prophecy given by her brother "The Visionary" Vedrfolnir on Dainsleif's character card: "The Crimson Moon shall take revenge upon the Eclipse."

2. Genshin Impact Dainsleif

Last version we were joking about the five sinners appearing and quickly tagging Dainsleif, and now this version Dainsleif has indeed rushed over. In the PV, Dainsleif's line "He betrayed me, what kind of friends are we?" is uncertain if it refers to Rerir, but this statement actually applies to all five sinners. Because in Dainsleif's eyes, his brother and former close friends have betrayed him and betrayed their homeland; they are no longer worthy of being considered kin or friends, but targets for his revenge.

Genshin Impact Dainsleif

Among the five sinners, "Gold" Rhinedottir and "The Visionary" Vedrfolnir also have voice lines in the PV. This chessboard scene should be a manifestation of the Hunter of the Moon's memories. Several pieces on the chessboard can be matched with Dainsleif and a few of the five sinners.

Among them, the "Broken Sword" piece is guessed to correspond to "The Foul" Surtalogi, the "Unicorn" piece represents "Gold" Rhinedottir, the "Mask" piece probably corresponds to "The Wise" Hroptatyr, and the "Wolf" piece represents the "Hunter of the Moon" Rerir. As for the "Blind Prophet," it refers to Dainsleif's brother, "The Visionary" Vedrfolnir.

Luna II PV: chessboard scene

In this way, we can basically determine what is being deductive on the chessboard: it is the past event where Dainsleif gathered his close friends to rescue his brother, who had been blinded and wrongly imprisoned by Irmin after offering an unfavorable prophecy that angered the king. This action, originally intended only to save his brother, ultimately evolved into a righteous act to save the nation, and the Five Sinners were born during this event.

It is worth mentioning that Rhinedottir and Vedrfolnir, like Solinitis, are names that Rerir shouted out in his state of madness. It seems that these two sinners also did "certain things" back then, leaving a deep obsession with Rerir, perhaps related to the major incident that once caused his body to be torn into thousands of fragments and thrown into the chaos of time.

3. Genshin Impact Varka

Friendly reminder: Travelers who like Varka and the characters from "Song of the Welkin Moon," remember to check out the related merchandise. The designs are exquisite, highly restoring the images and settings from the PV, making them truly worth collecting.

4. Genshin Impact Marionette

Among the Fatui Harbingers, in addition to The Knave who has come to assist, Marionette will also continue to contribute her significant strength to the campaign against the Rächer of Solnari. To wipe away the shame of being defeated by the Rächer of Solnari in the previous battle, Marionette analyzed the data from her earlier encounter, researched it, and further enhanced Pulonia's combat program intensity. She even transformed the entire Kuuvahki Experimental Design Bureau into a battlefield.

In the PV, we can see the Fatui's mechanized troops engaging the incoming armies of The Wild Hunt in front of the Design Bureau, operating multi-position turrets to pour down fierce fire upon the Wild Hunt. Later, the Rächer of Solnari seems to be lured inside the Design Bureau, stepping into the trap that Marionette had prepared. With such thorough preparations, one wonders if Marionette can turn the tables this time and make the Rächer of Solnari truly feel the power of science.

5. Genshin Impact Albedo and Durin

Albedo and Durin will also make their official appearance in the Luna II storyline. It remains uncertain what reasons they have for coming to Nod-Krai with Alice. This PV shows scenes of Durin unleashing his power to confront something-perhaps Durin will become a key surprise force that turns the situation around just in time during the battle against the Rächer of Solnari?

Genshin Impact Albedo and Durin

It can be foreseen that Durin will play a special and important role in the "Tale of the Moon," which has actually been hinted at in previous game stories. Everyone likely remembers that in the Simulanka side quest "Towards the Lighthouse, or Far Away," we offered the "dragon scale" and "dragon horn" of the block-built Durin to the island's "Trinity of Moon Goddesses" statues, causing the lighthouse's far-light to rise into the sky and become a "New Moon" emitting guiding light. As a "reflection" of the Teyvat world, Simulanka's metaphorical meaning is incredibly strong.

Genshin Nod-Krai

In fact, the telling of the tale of the three moons in the prelude PV "Moonlit Ballad of the Night" for "Song of the Welkin Moon" begins with Durin gazing at his own reflection in a cup. In a way, Durin becomes a symbol of the dragon race, or rather, of the creator of the three moons-the Primordial Dragon Lord Nibelung. Interestingly, Nibelung is often described as the "Dark-Winged Lord," and our little Durin also possesses a pair of black dragon wings.

The part in the PV where everyone joins forces to engage in a great battle against the Rächer of Solnari is arguably the most exciting segment of the entire preview. The Rächer of Solnari directs his spearhead towards the Damselette, and Rifthounds swarm out in full force to assault Hiisi Island, plunging the situation into an extremely dangerous state. Not wanting to burden everyone trying to protect her, the Damselette resolves to lure away the Rächer of Solnari by herself, allowing the others a chance to escape. During the tense aerial pursuit, the weakened Damselette is no match for the Rächer of Solnari. Caught up by him, her shield is shattered by a single strike, and her safety remains unknown...

Traveler and the Rächer of Solnari

Subsequently, it seems the Traveler and the Rächer of Solnari are drawn alone into a strange space for a final decisive battle. This likely is not a Trounce Domain challenge but rather a story-driven combat sequence, making the development of the "Luna II" storyline even more anticipated!
