Genshin Impact Nefer: Embodiment of Moon and Wisdom
As the boss lady who possesses both beauty and intelligence, I believe Nefer captivated every Traveler the moment she appeared. Follow our steps, and in this article, we will together appreciate the details of the immensely capable head of the Curatorium of Secrets-Nefer.

Although Nefer is from Sumeru, her connection to the moon is quite profound. Let's examine the details together. In the storyline of the Luna I version, Nefer frequently mentioned stories and was even willing to exchange valuable information for various tales.
Among the Seven Sages under King Deshret in Sumeru, Thoth is often marked. Nefer's origins are likely directly related to her. The Ibis King, Thoth, in Egyptian mythology, is the inventor of writing and the scribe of the gods, thus regarded as the god of wisdom. Thoth is often depicted with the head of an ibis and the body of a human. Due to her name and curved beak, which resembles a crescent moon, she is also considered a deity of the moon. The many bird-headed, human-bodied statues in the desert represent Thoth. The inspiration for the light ribbons and armored gauntlets on Nefer's design may originate from this.

Upon closer observation of Nefer's face, you will notice that besides her captivating eyes, there is a pattern on the eyelid of her right eye and a teardrop mole below her left eye. In fact, this decorative pattern strictly resembles an eyelash, and its prototype is the Eye of Horus. Horus's left eye represents the moon, and this symbol is also used to represent the eye of Thoth.
Since Nefer's decoration is on the right eye, it likely adopts the imagery of Horus's right eye representing the sun and insight into all things in the world. Simultaneously, it connects to the settings of the Moon's Eye and Thoth's Eye.

In her idle animation, Nefer plays with two game pieces as if they were yo-yos. The prototype of these pieces is Senet, an ancient Egyptian board game. In mythology, Thoth played Senet with the first-generation Moon Goddess, wagering moonlight, and successfully won the game, earning five extra nights of the new moon. Of course, playing with the pieces also reflects Nefer's control over the overall situation. As for why the yo-yo is mentioned, it's mainly because Nefer first throws the pieces and then catches them by hand. The action of the pieces rebounding, flying to a high point, and then being retracted resembles a move in yo-yoing.

Returning to the pieces, they are actually Nefer's shadow clones. When she uses her Elemental Skill, Nefer enters a special state, and her normal charged attack is replaced by a special charged attack. Nefer, along with her two shadow clones, jointly attacks the enemy. When the attack sequence concludes, you can clearly see the two shadow clones transforming back into game pieces, which Nefer then retrieves.
Thoth is associated with wisdom and the moon. The shadow, as the other side of the moon, symbolically represents the formidable, all-seeing aspect behind Nefer's wisdom. Of course, maintaining a position in the intelligence world also requires linguistic skill. Many players vividly remember the scenes in the dialogue between Nefer and Yelan, where just a few sentences were filled with intricate tactics.
A touch of gold adorns Nefer's lips above. In Egyptian culture, the mouth is considered the outlet for "utterances and incantations." Speech is seen as a creative force, and adorning the lips with sacred gold emphasizes the power of this force, corresponding to Nefer's level of rhetorical skill.

Finally, there is a very obvious element in Nefer's design - the cat. Whether it's playing with Ashelu in her idle animation or the kicking techniques and various cat-like steps in her normal attack, they all point to the cat element. When unleashing her Elemental Burst, the gently smiling Nefer's eyes appear even more cat-like, and the shadow clones nestling beside her also carry a certain feline charm.

That concludes all the content of this article. After reading it, you must have gained a better understanding of Nefer. If you like her a lot, please make sure not to miss out on her! Don't forget to keep following our future articles and in-site merchandise. See you next time!
