Who is klee's Dad? Kleiner Lore Analysis

Just now, in the storyline of Genshin Impact version 6.4, Klee's father was officially revealed. Based on the dialogue between Ms. Alice and Venti in the story, it is revealed that Klee's father, Alice's husband, is named "Kleiner," whose identity is a "Seeker" who travels across various planets to resolve crises.

Previous speculation about why Klee's father never appeared has now been confirmed. It is indeed because he was occupied with carrying out an important mission and could not get away. According to Alice's account, her husband had been on a business trip to another planet. He became entangled in a very troublesome incident, which caused a long delay. It was only recently, after many twists and turns, that he managed to return to Teyvat. However, he happened to arrive right during The Doctor incident and now has to continue working overtime.

Many attentive netizens have also noticed that as early as October 2020, the official Genshin Impact social media accounts specifically mentioned this name—Kleiner Kerl, the English name of Klee's father.

What’s even more interesting is that the abbreviation of Klee's father's English name is exactly KK (Kleiner Kerl, abbreviated as KK), which is the same as the name signed on the remarks for both Aether and Lumine in the earliest character artwork of the Traveler in Genshin Impact.

Both "Kleiner" and "Kerl" originate from German. "Kleiner" means "small" or "little," while "Kerl" means "guy," "fellow," or "mate" (typically referring to a male). The term sometimes carries an affectionate tone—for example, "ein lieber Kerl" means "a good guy." It is a common word in everyday German conversation. Therefore, the literal meaning of the name Kleiner Kerl is "little guy."

Considering from another perspective, the inspiration for the name Kleiner may very likely come from the famous French fairy tale "The Little Prince", whose German title is Der kleine Prinz. After all, the name of Klee's mother, "Alice," can almost certainly be traced to the fairy tale Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
